Slightly different tender shell castings. The shell on the right interfered with the board, preventing the shell from fully seating. It appears the design change in the shell on the left was meant to address this. Note the recess in the casting under the water hatch (also notice the small bit of red in the same general location with the tender on the right - this was the contact point of the decoder plug)
