Middle drivers are suspended - they ride on a single, fairly light spring. The advantage is a suspension that follows the track very well (vertically and cross-frame (cross equalization of a sort)); these four wheels are always on the rail. The disadvantage is the the power transmisission from rear axle to front through the drive rods will cause these drivers to lift in some cases (heavy load).
