Drawn 2011-10 by my father to my established footprint.
In this concept, there are three significant changes.
1)
- The doorway through the center wall was widened from 30" to over 7', eliminating two tunnels through the concrete. This is huge (see photos here: http://goodman312.zenfolio.com/p1070190717)
- The main yard was moved to below the center dividing wall and is stub ended. This would serve as a sceniced open staging yard. The rest of the lower level concept is similar to Version 1, including reversing loop (similar to, though a bit more disguised than previous iterations) for continuous running.
- (Actually 2b) The climbing main line still returns around the end of the room to the upper turnback blob where the viaduct now enters a clockwise loop (instead of counter clockwise as in version 1). This was to bring this scenic highlight to the front of the scene. This scene also contains a reversing loop at it's lower level, unchanged from version 1.
- This turnback blob / reversing loop scene would be shared with the upper level. The climbing main track would make a few helix turns (exposed and hidden) around the mountain until it got to an elevation at which a distinct upper level would spring into existence. This has the advantage of requiring only 1 hidden turn in the helix - the track can "exit" to the next level at a lower elevation - there is not a hard upper level / lower level distinction yet.
