Benchwork Reinforcement

Benchwork Reinforcement

To reinforce the notched benchwork girders, I used 1quot; x 2quot; x 1/8quot; 6061 Aluminum L-channel cut to match the length of the benchwork members. Attachment was via #8 x 3/4quot; sheet metal screws. I considered epoxy, but that goes against my philosophical need to be able to disassemble things. I have commitment problems...

I cut the aluminum with a Freud Diablo blade intended for laminates and non-ferrous metals mounted in a run of the mill 10quot; Miter Saw. It worked much better than I had expected, leaving a very smooth edge.
