10/6/2012 Work Session

10/6/2012 Work Session

A lot of progress that netted 6 linear feet of additional benchwork.
- More refactoring: 6' modules were rebuilt to 4' modules to address beam sponginess in the longer span. It will also make better use of 8' material and place legs closer together.
- Joists added to all modules that were still quot;hollowquot;
- Leg design (post vs. angled) finalized. Posts were chosen and mounted for simplicity and to eliminate the possibility of concrete screws being pulled out of the wall.
- Legs are 1x3 mixed material - most plywood or cedar (the latter once attached somewhere to my 1940 house).
- First use of self-drilling drywall and metal screws for assembly. Nice.
