Tunnel crew at mainline north portal
My house is a bit older and uses block with three internal hollows (as opposed to the more common two hollows). It's also a true 8 inches thick; modern CMU is a bit thinner. As a result, there are more internal webs to cut through.
The lower (staging) track comes almost straight through the wall, and cuts through one web. The upper tunnel, because of it's lower approach angle on the north side of the wall ended up requiring a cut through three internal webs.
