Refactoring is the process of changing the design of something without affecting it's behavior (the term is typically used in the software development industry).
In this case, I'm refactoring benchwork. This section was removed from the wall so that it could be modified to match the module-on-guide board approach described in previous photos. In this case, what was the fourth side of this module becomes the guide board and a new side was cut and attached to the module. The re-completed module was then re-attached to the wall.
