Central Valley Tie Strips

Central Valley Tie Strips

The track near the front edge are Central Valley's 2003 Branchline ties. These are spiked about every 10th tie using Micro Engineering spikes pushed through pre-drilled #72 pilot holes. I thinned and shortened the spike heads to disguise them a little better. This was tedious, but effective.

The next track back is CV's 2006 8'6quot; mainline ties. These have been separated from one another will be placed on 21quot; centers (when connected, they are on about 19.5quot; centers). In addition, I removed the rail clamps that are cast as part of the ties. The rail clamps serve two purposes, one functional (rail gauging and anchoring), the other aesthetic - simulating rail clamps. I needed neither since a slow speed branch line is unlikely to have clamps.
